Clinical Rules of Thumb
Ideal Blood Pressure
The clinical gold standard for normal blood pressure remains less than 120/80 mmHg. Consistent readings above 130 systolic are now widely classified as Stage 1 Hypertension.
Cholesterol Ratios
While total cholesterol matters, cardiologists focus heavily on your Total/HDL ratio. A ratio of 5 is considered average risk, but a ratio below 3.5 is considered optimal.
Hemoglobin A1c Limits
An A1c below 5.7% is normal. Readings between 5.7% and 6.4% indicate prediabetes, signaling a critical window for lifestyle and dietary intervention.
